Fulfillment of high precise frequency measurement by ASIC

This paper analyzes usual measuring errors caused by inconsistency of the input signal pulse verge and strobe signal verge in frequency measurement. It sets forth an effective solution. This solution uses programmable ASIC widget to fulfill synchronism between the input signal pulse and MPU clocking signal. It also solves the measuring errors caused by the randomness of starting time and stopping time of the input pulse and strobe signal. Compared with other frequency measurements, the method based on the ASIC makes use of simple periphery circuit around MPU and can self-adapts the variation of input signal frequency. Dividing frequency before measurement and using two registers to extend counting range of (frequency) enlarge the measurement range of inputting frequency. The work of the paper has searched after a new way for high precise frequency measurement.
