Preliminary result of magnetotelluric sounding in the Longmen thrust belt of West Sichuan,China

By processing,interpreting and inversing the magnetotelluric observation data obtained from Songpan-Zhongjiang passed through the middle section of the Longmen thrust belt,this paper reveals 30 km deep crust architecture of the Songpan-Ganzi fold belt,Longmen Mountains and West Sichuan foreland basin,and finds the west inclined successive high conductive layer in the crust of 15~20 km of Longmen Mountains.The magnetotelluric sounding result evidently demostrates the features of the Longmen thrust belt in the deep.This result is of important theoretical significance for detecting the deep fine structures of Longmen Mountains and revealing its relationship with the adjacent tectonic units and the continental orogenic deep geodynamics process on the eastern edge of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
