ORE FABRIC CHARACTERISTICS OF COPPER-IRON DEPOSITS IN TONGLING DISTRICT,ANHUI,CHINA

The research on the ore fabric of the main copper-iron deposits in the Tongling district indicates that there are sedimentary-diagenetic, thermal metamorphic and metasomatic ore fabric in this district. Combining with the study of the orebody occurrence and ore composition, the authors of this paper consider that iron and sulfur may be related to Carboniferous strata, that copper content is very low in primary sediments, and that they are enriched mainly by metamorphic reformation and especially by (magmatic) hydrothermal superimposition. There are two series in this region, i. e., sedimentary-diagenetic-thermal series (is called metamorphic type for short) and hydrothermal cavity filling-metasomatic series (is called metasomatic type for short). The two series are totally different in mineral evolution and chemical composition. Therefore Carboniferous copper-iron deposits in the Tongling district are to considered belong to a stratabound sham type deposit formed mainly by sedimentary-diagenetic, thermal metamorphic reformation and (magmatic) hydrothermal superimposition.
