A STUDY OF THE RELATION BETWEEN TIDAL STRESS, ROTATION OF THE EARTH AND LANDSLIDES

The landslide, formed on the two sides of a river valley, is one of major geological disasters . Based on the field investigation and statistics of landslide data available up to now, the authors have found that the development of landslides on different banks of a river has an obvious selection: the number of landslides on north bank is more than those on the south one, while the number of landslides on the east bank is more than those on the west bank on the north hemisphere , which can't be explained by lithological feature and structure factors. This indicates that this phenomenon is the result of the tidal stress and the rotation of the earth stressing onto the earth.
