APPLYING PRINCIPAL COMPONENT REGRESSION TO STUDY THE URBANIZATION EFFECT ON "HEAT ISLAND" OF CHENGDU

Shi Fengyun Tang Youmin (Dept. of Meteorology, Chengdu Institute of Meteorology)  
paper studies the main factors affecting on urban "heat island" of Chengdu using principal component regression "L-S" estimation and "M-Robust" estimation. The results indicate that the sum of building area and the sum of population are the most important factors in eleven, while the sum of urban area and the sum of family are of the second. In our study, the imitation of regression equations of "M-" estimation shows a better relation with real data than that of "L-S" estimation. Consequently, a theoritical basis of forecasting urban climate is introduced.
