Study on Genetic Characters in Diploid and Tetraploid of Dactylis glomerata

Karyotype, meiosis of the pollen mother cells (PMCs), esterase isozyme and peroxidase isozyme of seven wild Dactylis glomerata collected from subtropical areas in China were studied by means of cytogenetic and biochethecal genetics. It is concluded from the study that: (I) There were no great difference among the diploid or the tetraploid; (II) The karyotype, numbers of pollen, seed weight per one thousand seeds, esterase isozyme and peroxidase isozyme were quite different between diploid and te-traploid; (III ) The PMCs was regular, but stainable pollen and seed set were not high.
