RAPD Analysis on the Genomic DNA of Several Triticeae Grasses and Their Hybrids

The Genomic DNA differences among Agropyron mongolicum × Agropyrom cristatum cv.Fairway F1 hybrid,their backcross 1 (F1hybrid × A. mongolicum)and Elymus canadensis × Hordeum brevisubulatum F1 hybrid were analyzed by using RAPD. The appropriate primers which can be used to determine the genetic differences among parents and their hybrids were selected. It was tested and verified thatthe genetic differences in DNA between E. canadensis and H. brevisubulatum were greater than that between A. mongolicum and A. cristatum cv. Fairway. The RAPD profiles of F1 hybrids tended to their motherobviously. RAPD can be used to identify hybrids and to study genetic breeding of grasses.
