Salt Tolerauce of Early Growth of Five Grass Species in Hexi Corridor

1. The germination of ryegrass (Lolium perenne).wild barley (Hordeum brevisubulatum ). brome grass (Bromus inermis ).tall wheatgrass (Elytrigia elongatus) and alkaligrass (Puccinellia tenuiflora) under NaCl concentration: 0, 21, 66, 110, 150, 200, 267,334,445mmol/L NaCl were compared in a growth chamber experiment. As salt increased,germination rate, length of radical and shoot,weight of radical and shoot decreased. Thesalt tolerant order of five species is E. elongatusB. inermis, P. tenuifloraL. perenneH. brevisubulatum. 2. Seedlings of E. elongatus,B. inermis,L. perenne and H. brevisubulatum were grown at solution with salt concentration of 0, 200, 334, 445 mmol/L NaCl in aglasshouse experiment. The results showed that the aboveground biomass decreased withsalt increased at five weeks. Mean while sensitive of roots to salt stress decreased comparewith that in germination. E. elongatus has higher salt resistance among species. Decreasedosmotic potential by salt stress caused plants relative water depletion,then plants watercontents decreased.
