The Mechanisms of Cultural Capital's Influence on Intergeneration Mobility——Investigation object: College Students and Working Personnel

Cultural capitalisplaying a very important part in everyfield in modern life. Cultural capital can be passed from generation to generation, and in this way the characteristics of different stratifications and classes are inherited by their offspring directly. Cultural capital can also be transformed into economic capital and social capital, which provide more advantageous conditions for further accumulation of cultural capital. And cultural capital is strengthened by educational system and social system nowadays. At present, people from different stratifications pay much attention to the accumulation of cultural capital. Bourdieu thought that people in upper classes reproduce their social status and accumulate cultural capital by the way of education. While in China, those who are stratified into lower status hope that they could change their own and their sons and daughters’ current situation so that they can step into higher social status by gaining more cultural capital.
