Crystal Growth and Laser Characteristics of Nd~(3+):KGd(WO_4)_2

In this paper,Nd3 +(3·2at.%):KGd(WO4)2crystal grown by kyropoulos method was presen-ted. The absorption spectrum and fluorescence spectrum of Nd3 +: KGWcrystal were measured. We cal-culated the absorption cross sections at 808nm(0·6799×10-20cm2),the output wavelength of fluores-cence was 1068nm and 1351nm. The diode -pumped laser was operated both in the free -running andpassively Q-switched operating modes. The maximum laser output(1064nm) was 326mW with 62·7%slope efficiency when input enery was900mW. The beamquality factor M2lower than1·2. We obtainedgreen light of532nm in frequency multiplication operation.The laser was passively Q-switched by usingCr4 +:LuAG as saturable absorber. We obtained the pulsewidth of 170ns when repetitive frequency at15kHz.
