A Vehicle Detecting System Based on Optical Fiber Sensor

A unconventional vehicle detecting system based on Mach-Zehnder fiber loop is proposed. The operating principle of the Mach-Zehnder interferometer and the design method of the integral system are also described. The signals at different frequencies and amplitudes are obtained in experiments. At the same time, the information about the vehicles can be got by analyzing the frequency of the obtained signals. Compared with the conventional method in which the electromagnetic induction is used,the fiber sensor features the high stability and sensitivity, and it can substitute the conventional ones.
