New Design for Wireless Sensor Networks Using TCP/IP

Traditional TCP/IP protocol stack is too huge to be used for wireless sensor networks which have very small resources. This paper researched the design of the special TCP/IP protocol stack on the wireless sensor nodes, added the protocol header compression technique, and proposed a new model using two different nodes and a design of the protocol stack. This model uses a new type of node called supernode to translate between the compressed TCP/IP protocol using by the normal nodes and the standard TCP/IP protocol. It can obtain an efficient and seamless connection with the Internet.
