Improved double fiber Bragg grating large current sensor

GMM has different magnetostrictive effect in different directions,based on this an improved double fiber Bragg grating(FBG) large current sensor configuration is presented.By monitoring the wavelength shift difference of two FBGs,the measured current can be obtained.The impact of temperature to GMM and the influence of temperature-strain cross sensitivity are eliminated.High strain and sensor sensitivity are obtained at the same time.The experimental results show that in the range of-10~60℃ the relation between the dispersion of two FBGs Bragg wavelength and current is linear,The current sensitivity of the sensor is 5.78×10-4nm/A,and the relative error is 2.89%.The theoretical and experimental results verify the feasibility of the proposed sensor.
