Inhibition of Influenza Virus Reproduction in Chicken Embryo by Polysaccharides from Mussel(Perna viridis)

The inhibition of influenza virus reproduction in chicken embryo was studied by polysaccharides from mussel Perna viridis(PVPS).The chicken embryo culture was used to observe the inhibition of PVPS on type A influenza virus by hemagglutination test in terms of hemagglutination titer.The synergistic effect of PVPS and ribavirin were studied by associating medication test.Compared with the virus control group,hemagglutination titer of the PVPS group decreased significantly(P0.01).Compared with the ribavirinl group or the same level of PVPS group,hemagglutination titer of associating medication group decreased(P0.01),and 0.85q1.15.PVPS significantly inhibited the proliferation of influenza virus in chicken embryo cultures.PVPS had activities of anti-influenza virus and the addition effect of ribavirin,indicating that PVPS has the prospect to be developed into the anti-influenza virus biological agent.
