Isolation of Marine Bacteria Against Vibrio and Detection of Antimicrobial Activity

One hundred and seventy-six strains of marine bacteria were isolated from 86 samples of seawater,sediments and marine organisms collected from coastal areas in Lianyungang,Jiangsu province.The antimicrobial activities of the strains isolated above against to bacterium Vibrio anguillarum were tested on 2216E culture medium through dual culture methods,in which six strains XDY-7-4,YC-6-3,BM-1,BN-1,BN-2 and XS-56 were found to show high antimicrobial activity,especially the BN-1 strains with inhibition zone of 11.2 mm,followed by the XS1-5,XDY-7-4 and YC-6-3 strains with inhibition zone of 10.4 mm,10.2 mm and 9.9 mm,respectively.However,low antimicrobial activities were observed in the BN-2 and BM-1 strains.The inhibition activity of sterilization fermentation broth from these marine bacteria by stiletto showed that BN-1 had the highest inhibitory activity,followed by YC-6-3 and XDY-7-4 and the BM-1,XS1-5 and BN-2 had lower activity compared with the other bacteria.
