Effects of a Chinese Herbal Compound on Nonspecific Immunity in Blood of Tilapia

Four hundred and eighty healthy tilapia with body weight of(36±5) g were randomly divided into 8 groups at a rate of 60 individuals per group and fed diets containing 0‰(control group),0.5‰,1.0‰,and 1.5‰ of a Chinese herbal compound for 60 days with duplication.Meanwhile,tilapia blood were sampled every 15 days to determine phagocytosis activity and the amount of NBT~positive cells in the blood and activities of superoxide dismutase(SOD),catalase(CAT),and lysozyme(LSZ)in the serum.The results showed that 1.0‰,and 1.5‰ of Chinese herbal compound led to increase in phagocytosis activity,the amount of NBT~positive cells and the activities of SOD,CAT,and LSZ significantly or very significantly on the 30th day and the 45th day in the experiment compared with the control diet,indicating that the diet containing 1.0‰,and 1.5‰ Chinese herbal compound significantly improved the tilapia non~specific immunity.
