Technique of Particle Bombardment and Its application in Plant Genetic Transformation of Tea Plant

Wu Shan, Liang Yue rong (Department of tea science, Zhejiang University; Hangzhou 310029, China)  
Particle bombardment, as a newly developed device for genetic transformation, now is of increasing importance in this field. The level of transformation frequency is mainly depending on the factors including microcarrier preparation, bombardment parameters and explant status. Compared to some other crops, the researches in tea plant genetic transformation are relatively behindhand. Due to its properties of genotype independence and recipient extensiveness, particle bombardment system hasalso been applied to the domain of tea plant gene engineering for facilitating the researches.
