Studies on the Application of GPS-RTK Technology in the First Order Control Survey

This paper introduces the process of 1st order control survey with the utilization of GPS-RTK technology. It recommends the method of 2 initializations to eliminate the gross error, and educes the functional relationships between point error and mobile station distance by means of regression analysis on the basis of the difference between the RTK measurements and those resulted from the existed ftrst order control points. Huge amount of experimental data have been analyzed. The experimental results proved that it is feasible to perform 1st order control survey with GPS-RTK technology if we restrict the distance between the reference station and mobile station within certain limits and provided that there is no gross error. Therefore, it provides not only strong foundations for us to perform 1st order traverse survey in cities with GPS-RTK technology, but also useful reference data to develop industry specifications.
