Distribution Characteristics of Air Pollution and Cause of Serious Pollution in the Mid Cities of Liaoning Province

MA Yan-jun,LIU Ning-wei,WANG Yang-feng(Shenyang Atmospheric Environment Institute of CMA,Shenyang 110016,China)
Typical heavy pollution days(January17-19,2002) were selected according to the air pollution status of the mid cities of Liaoning Province,China in 2002.And air pollution status and corresponding meteorological conditions on heavy pollution days were analyzed in this paper. The results showed that when the wind speed was slow and the daily mean wind speed was less than 2 m/s and the wind was all the local wind, the air pollution was serious. At the same time, temperature inversion was serious and persisting time of ground inversion could reach 11:00 at noon. And the thickness and intensity of inversion layer were also large with from 550 m to 600 m and from 0.9℃ to 2.6℃/hm in five cities. From the weather map,the typical heavy pollution in this area in winter was affected by the Changbai Mountain high pressure and the Northeast topographic trough, and the atmosphere was very stable in there.
