Current Situation of Water Quality and Pollution Assessment of Taopu River in Shanghai

The water quality of Taopu River,one of the important tributaries of Suzhou River,was worrisome.Selecting 15 sampling sites in Taopu River,the concentrations of NH_4~+-N,COD_(Mn),NO_2~--N and NO_3~--N were tested by observation on the spot and analysis in the laboratory.The water quality of Taopu River was assessed with GB 3838-2002,the single pollution index and Fuzzy Synthetic Evaluation.The results showed that the content of DO was comparatively low,NH_4~+-N over-standard seriously and the water quality was below the Class V water.Self-purification ability was overall weak with south section best,middle and north sections subsequently.Based on the above research, the rectification measures of Taopu River were put forward.
