An Investigation on the Adsorption of Sodium Laurate to Clay

The adsorption of sodium laurate on calcium montmorilonite from the aqueous solution of Na 2CO 3 NaHCO 3(pH9.6)at various temperatures was investigated.The adsorption isotherms of LS type were obtained in the system at 25 and 30℃,while an isotherm of three plateaus obtained at 35℃.According to the two steps adsorption model and the general adsorption isotherm equation [6] ,the specific parameters for adsorption and adsorption thermodyamic parameters were calculated.Explanation on the mechanism of adsorption in the system was provided also.
