Solid-liquid phase transfer catalytic synthesis of α-alkyl cinnamaldehyde products

A series of α-alkyl cinnamaldehyde products were synthesized by the aldol condensation of bezaldehyde with a(series) of aliphatic aldehydes through the solid-liquid phase transfer catalysis using solid K_2CO_3 as alkaline catalyst,benzyl triethyl amonium chloride(BETAC) as phase transfer catalyst and DMF as co-catalyst.The effect of the dosage of benzaldehyde,DMF and BETAC on the yield of the product was examined by an orthogonal designed experiment program.Results showed that the suitable dosages can be identified as aliphatic aldehyde(0.04 mol),benzyldehyde(0.056 mol),BETAC(2.0 g),DMF(3.5 g),the yield of α-ethyl cinnamaldehyde,α-butyl cinnamaldehyde,α-pentyl cinnamaldehyde and α-hexyl cinnamaldehyde can achieve(94.1%),(88.7%),(84.6%) and(83.2%) respectively.The chemical structure of the products was characterized by FT-IR and()~1HNMR.
