Study of microstructure and phase diagrams of pseudo-ternary-component of Dufulin pesticide microemulsion

Phase diagrams at 25 ℃ of pseudo-ternary-component of the emulsifier A+butanol+Dufulin cyclohexane solution/emulsifier B+butanol+Dufulin cyclohexane solution/water system were mapped out.The effects of the mass ratios of butanol to emulsifiers(mbutanol∶(mA+mB)=1∶4,1∶2,1∶1 and 5∶4)on distribution of microemulsion region,lyotropic liquid crystal region and the binary phase region were investigated in details.Moreover,by using texture image observation and conductivity measurement,microstructures of lyotropic liquid crystals and microemulsion were studied.The investigations revealed that the higher the butanol to emulsifiers ratio,the bigger the microemulsion region area,and the smaller the liquid crystal region area until it vanishes;the higher the ratio of emulsifier A to emulsifier B,the less the microemulsion region area.As the mass ratios of butanol to emulsifiers(mbutanol∶(mA+mB))are 1∶1 and 5∶4,the microstructure of microemulsion converts from W/O structure to bi-continuous structure,and finally to O/W structure.The results exhibit that the X point is the better composition for formation of Dufulin microemulsion and the line 1 is the better path for application.
