Gravity Field of Mt.Everest Area on the Base of the Global Reference System

Mt. Everest is located on the collision belt of the boundary between Eurasian and India Plates. Crustal movement is very active there, and the topography is also very complex there. In recent 30 years China dependently or cooperatively with foreign countries carried out 5 times (1966, 1975, 1992, 1998, 1999) geodetic campaigns, including astronomical determination, gravimetry, meteorological, horizontal and vertical measurements. Base on the global reference system and according to these geodetic results the gravity field in the Mt. Everest area is studied. The optimum method for the estimation of the gravity anomalies, deflection of the verticals and height anomalies in the Mt. Everest Area are suggested. The results of the estimation are listed in the paper.
