Gradation calibration and Information extraction of soil and water loss factors based on RS and GIS-The case of Panzhihua city

Taking Panzhihua city for an example,based on landsat-7 ETM+ original data of 2003 and 1∶100000 topographic map,the authors have extracted leading factors of soil and water loss by ERDAS/IMAGINE and MapGIS software,such as vegetation cover,slope,gully density,land-use type,and so on.According to the industry standard of the People's Republic of China standard for classification and gradation of soil erosion(SL 190-96),the authors have established surface erosion gradation index of soil and water loss,which provides scientific basis for the further monitoring and study of soil and water loss.
