Analyzing the evolution of GuoBuCuo lake in Tibet with remote sensing technology

The evolution research of lakes is an important topic for investigating the corresponding plateau environment.This paper concentrated on studying the lake-shrinking and relative aspects of the GuoBuCuo Lake.In the paper,with the usage of the RS,GIS technique,the remote sensing image of the GuoBuCuo lake was used as data resources to inverse extent of the lake during four different periods by the aid of sediments left in the image,and also the evolution reason and corresponding resolving strategy was analyzed.Investigation result shows that from the late mid Pleistocene epoch till now,the GuoBuCuo lake has dwindled about 258.2km2,and the water level declined about 76 m.The period during which the lake withered most seriously is between the late mid Pleistocene epoch and Holocene epoch.Since Holocene epoch,the decline of the water level has slowed down and some small lakes appeared.
