Remote sensing estimation of forest ecosystem services-a case study of Yuhang district in Hangzhou

As the main body of terrestrial ecosystem,forest plays an important role in the whole global ecosystem.Using the light-use efficiency model and based on the CASA model and MODIS data,we evaluate the net primary productivity(NPP) of forest of Yuhang district in Hangzhou city,Zhejiang Province.The result of this paper shows that the total value of the six forest ecosystem services in Yuhang district is 1.38467 billion yuan in 2005 and the indirect economic value is as 4.5 times as the direct economic value.Among the contribution of value of all ecosystem services,the descending order is: C fixation and O2 release,water storage,organic matter production,nutrients cycle,soil conservation,and air puricication.The aim of this paper is to discuss a method to the research on forest ecosystem services evaluation and provide the scientific theory support and data basis for the policy of sustainable development and the protection of environment.
