THE EFFECT OF METHOD OF PREPARATION OF NiO-WO_3/Al_2O_3 CATALYSTS UPON THE INTERACTION OF NiO WITH Al_2O_3 AND THE PYRIDINE HYDROGENATION ACTIVITY

The effect of several factors involved in the preparation of NiO-WO3/ A12O3 catalysts upon the interaction of NiO with A12O3 and the pyridine hydrogenation activity has been studied by means of UV-visible diffuse reflectance spectra and microcatalytic reactor-chromatographic techniques. For the catalysts prepared by the co-impregnation method, their pyridine hydrogenation activity can be increased by properly selecting the preparation conditions to prevent as much as possible the formation of spinel NiAl2O4. For the catalysts prepared by the stepwise impregnation method, the effect of impregnation sequence on the pyridine hydrogenation activity is related to the calcination conditions.
