ELECTROCHEMICALLY ASSISTED PHOTOCATALYTIC DEGRADATION OF CHLOROPHENOLS USING TiO 2 MICROPOROUS FILM

TiO 2 thin film electrodes with microporous structure were prepared by film coating. Using the TiO 2 thin film electrode as working electrode, the electrochemically assisted photocatalytic system that had three kinds of electrodes (working electrode, reference electrode and counter electrode) was built. Selecting 4 chlorophenol (4 CP) and 2,4,6 trichlorophenol (TCP) solution as substrates, the photocatalytic degradation was studied. The results indicated that the benzene ring of 4 CP and TCP had been destroyed. Application of the anodic bias can restrain the reposition of photogenerated electron and hole, thus improve the photocatalytic efficiency of TiO 2 particles. It was also showed that the stronger the light intensity is, the higher the degradation efficiency.
