PREPARATION OF NANOCRYSTAL TITANIA BY SUPERCRITICAL DRYING

Shen Weiren, He Fei, Zhao Wenkuan, Fang Youling (College of Chemistry, Wuhan University, Wuhan 430072)  
Using titanium tetrabutoxide as precursor, nanocrystal TiO 2 aerogel with large BET surface area of 488 m 2/g and crystallite size of 4 6 nm was prepared through the sol gel method and supercritical drying. After the aerogel was annealed at 400℃ for 2 h, the BET surface area decreased to 158 m 2/g, and the particle size increased to 6 7 nm. The obtained TiO 2 was characterized by TEM, XRD and BET techniques.
