Synthesis of β Zeolite Using TEABr Fluoride as Composite Template Ⅰ. Stability Phase Area on Thermodynamics of Crystallization

The stability phase area for giving rise to β zeolite phase in the system with tetraethylammonium bromide (TEABr) fluoride as a composite template was studied. The phase diagrams were plotted by determining the β zeolite generated in the system of silica sol sodium aluminate TEABr fluoride after crystallization for 15 d at 140 ℃. The results showed that, compared with the traditional system, the optimized n (SiO 2)/ n (Al 2O 3) value in the mixture gel was expanded to 10~200 from 15~58, the lowest limit of n (TEABr)/ n (SiO 2) went down to 0 10 from 0 29, and the used amount of organic template was reduced greatly. A wide range of SiO 2/Al 2O 3, SiO 2/Na 2O, (TEA) 2O/Na 2O and F -/SiO 2 ratios allowed to synthesize the β zeolite. The crystallization of β zeolite could occur at lower SiO 2/Al 2O 3 in the absence of inorganic alkali, showing that F - acted as directing agent for forming β zeolite. The crystallization temperature had influence obviously on the phase area. The incremental temperature promoted the simultaneous crystallization of mordenite or ZSM 5, so that the phase area narrowed. The crystals were in ellipsoidal shape and the crystal size was from 1 to 1 4 μm.
