Preparation of Supported Alkaline Catalysts and Their Applications to Transesterification and Carbonylation of Methanol and Diethylamine

The supported alkaline catalysts were prepared using triethylamine and sodium methoxide as active components and using A , X and Y type molecular sieves, silica and organic polymer carriers as supports. The effects of many factors during preparation on catalytic activity of the catalysts were investigated, and the reactivity of transesterification and methanol carbonylation as well as diethylamine carbonylation were examined. The results revealed that the solvents and preparation methods in the course of catalyst preparation have remarkable effects on the activity of the catalysts, whereas the size of supports has only a little effect on the activity of the catalysts. Under proper conditions, the above mentioned supports are suitable carrier for organic alkaline such as triethylamine and sodium methoxide, and the as prepared supported alkaline catalysts possess high catalytic activity for transesterification and carbonylation of methanol and diethylamine under the action of propylene oxide promoter.
