Application of TiO_2-Al_2O_3 Composite Support Modified with Phosphorus to Ultra Deep Hydrodesulfurization

The influence of phosphorus modification on the structure and property of CoMo/ TiO2-Al2O3 catalyst was investigated. The laser Raman and FT-IR results showed that the addition of phosphate to TiO2-Al2O3 composite support we akens the interaction between the support and the metal Co or Mo. More multi-la yered MoS2 clusters which are more active than single-layered MoS2 clusters were observed in the phosphorus-modified catalyst due to the weaker metal-sup port interaction. In the hydrodesulfurization of 4,6-dimethyldibenzothiophene, the catalyst modified with a moderate amount of phosphate showed higher activity.
