A COMPARATIVE STUDY BETWEEN MULTISURFACEAND COLLOCATION METHOD IN DTM INTERPOLATION
: In this paper a comparative study between multisurface method and collocation me- thod in DTM intergolation is presented. It is extension of the author's research on mul- tisurface interpolation method (2). The conclusion is that in the case of DTM interpolation multisurface method is both simpler in computation and higher in accurcy as compared with the method of collocation. It is considered that the reason why the accuracy of the latter is lower than that of the former is that the phenomena predicated by collocation must be statio- nary random processes with ergodicity and also that there exist some approximate fac- tors in applying it. In addition, the shape of covariance of collocation is a bell surface. but it as the kernel function of multisurface method has been demonstrated to be very disadvantageous.
