AN APPLICATION OF REMOTE SENSING IMAGEAND GIS TO EXPLORATION OF KARST COLLAPSEPILLARS IN A COAL MINE AREA

:Karst collapse pillars are one of serious geological disasters in coal mining in China. In order to determine the possible bounds of karst collapse pillars, the mulit-factor overlap analysed of airborne remote sensing information as well as geology and mining data with the help of PC ARC/INFO GIS have been proposed. Based on the analysis result, the comprehensive geophysical explora tion can be used for verifying the karst collapse pillars. The experiments in a coal mine show that the new^ comprehensive techniques have not only high be nefits, but also good prospects.
