An Approach for Data Extracting and High-speed Rendering of Terrain Model

DEM model is a kind of important terrain model, because it has large amount of data, how to realize high speed rendering of terrain model is a very difficult problem. This paper first analyses the characteristic of the data of terrain model, gives an approach for data extracting and high speed rendering of terrain model, and an approach of normal based mesh model simplification at last, this paper gives a group of experiment results, which proves that the approach has the characteristic of large data compression ratio, high rendering speed and high fidelity.
