Statistical Model of Rate of Disfigurement for Attribute Data Accuracy Assessment in GIS

It is a critical research topic to measure and control accuracy of attribute data in the overall research framework accuracy in GIS data. This has become an even more important issue, particularly when more and more GIS data needs to be collected and updated. Sampling technique has been adopted in the area of surveying data processing for years. In this paper, the method of rate of disfigurement is proposed to measure accuracy of attribute data in GIS. The stratified sampling technique is then applied to measure accuracy of GIS data that are stored in layers. Finally, a case study is provided to demonstrate the applications of the rate of disfigurement method for attribute accuracy assessment.
