A DISLOCATION MODEL OF DOUBLE FAULTS FOR THE TANGSHAN EARTHOUAKE OF 1976

In this paper, a nonlinear inversion method for the determination of seismic source pa-rameters is proposed, and applied in the research of the seismic source parameters of the Tangshan earthquake of 1976. Because of the combined impacts of the Tangshan main shock(Ms=7.8)and the Ninghe strong aftershock(Ms=6.9)on the geodetic data in the inver-sion,a dislocation model of double faults is introduced.The results from the inversion of geodetic data are in good agreement with those from the inversion of seismic waves,and from the corresponding geological investigations.Besides,the impacts of different types of(horizontal and levelling) data on inverted results are investigated.
