In this paper, a new method of the inversion of linear elastic stress field using geodetic data is proposed. The distribution of monitoring stations,the random errors in geodetic observations and their effects on the results of stress field inversion are analysed by the numerical test,and the effects of elastic medium parameters on stress field inversion are also discussed.
