An Experimeat Detecting Natural Gas by Velocity, Amplitude and Main Frequency of the First Arrival of Acoustic Compressional Waves

An experimental result of the relationship between velocity, amplitude and main fre-quency of acoustic compressional wave first arrval is provided. It shows that first arrivalampletude is better gas index than velocity and frequency. Then, the basis of amplitudeattenuation (energy) method detecting gas is discussed in combination with information fromthirty oil wells in Sichuan, North China and Zhongyuan. Effectiveness, features, influencefactors and problems of this method are evaluated.
