Further Discussion on Vugs Evaluation Technology in Carbonate Reservoir

model-restricting technique is to evaluate carbonate reservoirs with rich micro-scanner and acoustic imaging logging data which is able to provide visual images of vugs in the reservoir after deep laterolog calibration. In developing vugs, the R LLd value is obviously lower, but its larger value ranges should be taken as the first selected parameter for curve reconstruction. Fillings in the corroded intervals may be restricted by shale content calculated with gamma-ray value. In the corroded intervals with the same phase, the most impotant porosity restriction condition is porosities (e.g., b, nc and s) derived from conventional porosity logs. Tough problems in model-restricting technique are control and restriction of model optimization processes. Log examples show that this technique is simple and quick in calculation, and its calculated porosities of the corrosive vugs are available to qualitatively evaluate the carbonate reservoirs. The difference between reconstructed matrix resistivity and deep laterolog resistivity is important in calculation of effective porosity and oil saturation.
