Study on the Russian Through Casing Resistivity Logging and Its Application

By means of experiments and numerical simulation,a deep study is made on the principles,characteristics and affecting factors of the through casing resistivity tool of the Russian ECOS-31-7,and developed are correction charts of cement mantle and shoulder bed.The ratio of true formation resistivity to apparent resistivity increases with the increase of the ratio of the apparent to cement sheath resistivity;when the ratio of the apparent resistivity to the sheath resistivity is less than 1 and a given value,the thicker the cement thickness,the bigger influence on the apparent resistivity;when the formation resistivity is less than the cement sheath resistivity,the cement sheath correction chart may be used to correct the measured through casing resistivity.The smaller the ratio of the apparent resistivity to the shoulder bed resistivity,the thinner the bed,and hense,the heavier influence on the measured values.When the bed thickness is below 1 m,the shoulder bed correction chart may be used to correct the measured through casing resistivity.Based on a series of field log tests and studies on data interpretation processing methods,a unique interpretation software is programmed,a set of relevant standards from data acquisition to processing and suitable for the ECOS-31-7 tool,have also been developed.The newly developed methods and standards have been widely applied in Liaohe oilfield and gained good results in many aspects such as dynamic monitoring,distribution of remaining oil and determining the situation of water flooded layers to provide a scientific basis for blocking up water and stabilizing oil production rate and so on.
