Coalbed Methane and Shale Gas Evaluation Based on New Seven Related Logging Goals

Based on symmetric consideration between coalbed methane and shale gas,this paper first contrast the sedimentary and reservoir mechanism differences between the two kinds of reservoirs,then put forward new seven related logging goals on rock facies and mineral composition,such as geochemistry,poro-permeability and structure,gas content and production rate,formation pressure and fluid composition,perforation and hydraulic optimization and logging attributes,etc.This paper suggest a log analyst should have an overall consideration about logging job from the six points i.e.source,reserve,cap,migration,trap,saving condition,and four points,e.g.,horizontal well geosteering,hydraulic fracturing,cased hole quality monitoring,injection and production monitoring.This paper further details the logging evaluation goal as gas formation,gas migration,gas content,gas production.Coalbed methane mainly exists in absorption form and negative trap is more favorable.Identifying absorptive gas whether to its maximum Lan's value and using field desorption gas composition to deduce gas forming mechanism is essential to evaluate gas content and production capability.Last,this paper suggest to develop new high resolution and great scale logging tools,and to study logging attributes for present logging tools.
