Effect of Invasion Depth on Oil/Gas Saturation Computation.

Based on the analysis of mud invasion mechanism, B L theory of percolation mechanics is used to deal with the problem of mud invasion in oil/gas layers. The theoretically computed results show that the invasion effect makes the water saturation descend exponentially with distance away from borehole. Therefore, an exponentially descending water saturation function is put forward for saturation computation, and a case study is also given. This method not only can eliminate the effect of invasion depth on water saturation computation for gas zone and low contrast resistivity formation, but also verify the theoretically computed results.
