A Method for Calculating Critical Water Depth of Open Channel with Trapezoid Section and Smooth Slope

This paper presents a new way, i. e. , a advance estimate modified method, for calculating critical water depth of open channel with trapezoid section and smooth slope. The method simply depends on the theory of numerical value approximation. Complex methematic derivation and physical hypothesis are not used. The user need not look through a table or figure to determine empirical coefficients. Numerical experiments show that the method is simple and the evaluation has relatively high accurate. The method can be widely used in engineering practice.
