Foundation treatment for flood protection works in bore stretch of Qiantang River

The rubble mound revetment dike was applied to construct a partial flood protection works of Hangzhou City in Qiantang River. Due to strong hydrodymamic effect, excessive river bed scour, great depth of bulk backfill and complex geologic conditions, synthetic treatment techniques for resolving these prblems including dynamic compaction, reinforced soil foundation, plastic drainage board and reinforced concrete sheet?pile etc., were adopted. Through employing these measures, the problems on flow erosion, non?unform settlements of foundation and liquefaction of soil were resolved successfully. After the works completed, the measured settlements were much less than the computed values of design, and there were no distimct non?uniform setflements in the works range.
