POLLEN ASSOCIATION IN RELATION TO THE ENVIRONMENTALVARIATION FROM EAST ZHOU TO HAN DYNASTY INZHANGJIAWAN PALEO-SITE IN WUSHAN REGION OFTHE CHANGJIANG RIVER′S THREE-GORGE AREA

ZHANG Yun, ZHU Cheng, YU Shi-yong(Department of Urban and Resources Sciences, Nanjing University, Nanjing 210093, China)
There were rich pollen in cultural layers in Zhangjiawan paleo-site in Wushan region, the three Gorges of Changjiang River during East Zhou to Han Dynasty. By pollen data analysis, it provides favorable data to study on plaeoenvironment of human activity in this region during East Zhou to Han Dynasty. Based on pollen association from up to down , three pollen groups could be divided such as follows: Group 1(Lygodium-Seleginella-Osmunda-Pinus), Group 2(Compositae-Thalictrum), Group 3 (Lygodium-Osmunda-Polypodiaceae-Ulmus-Berberis-Castanea-Sagittaria-Alisma). The difference among the pollen groups refers to environmental change by human activity in each stage. There was a subtropical zone in warm-humid climate before human activity. During East Zhou to East Han Dynasty there were temperature mixed forest landscape with deciduous and broad-leaf trees and grass landscape in warm-cold and a little arid climate. After this stage, the climate and vegetation types changed. The climate became wet,and vegetation types changed into forest. At the same time,a transient large-scale deluge took place in this area.
