Functions of water-holding in Sanjiangyuan Region were analyzed in both water-holding capability of wither and soil and quantity of rainfall.Its value was assessed with the method of shadow engineering.The results indicated that the quantities of water-holding of wither and soil in Sanjiangyuan Region is 1.65×10~(10)t with the value of 1.10×10~(10) Yuan RMB. The quantity of rainfall was 4.93×10~(10)m~3/a~1 with the value being 3.303 1×10~(10) Yuan RMB·a~(-1).The water-holding functions and value were huge in Sanjiangyuan Region,and it was very important to protect the structure and functions of its ecosystem for environment safety and sustainable development of middle and lower reaches of rivers originating from Sanjiangyuan Region.
