EVALUATING ECOSYSTEM SERVICE FOR COASTAL ZONE OF THE YANGTZE DELTA——A REMOTE SENSING APPROACH

The Yangtze Delta Coastal Zone is an important transitional region between the Yangtze Delta and East China Sea.Based on the framework of Millennium Ecosystem Assessment of United Nation,this study evaluated 10 ecosystem services of the study area in 2005 and 2008,using ecological theories,ecological economic principles and remote sensing method.It shows that the total value of the Yangtze Delta Coastal Zone was 12.36 billion Yuan in 2005 and 14.93 billion Yuan in 2008.Compared with GDP of the Yangtze Delta,the ecosystem service value had declined in fact.The coastal environment had degenerated.To different ecosystems,the value of forest,field and wetland was relatively high,which suggests that they should be protected to enhance the sustainable development of ecosystems.The services of tourism,soil protection and water holding capacity made three largest values,while the services of O2 releasing,cultural,nutrient cycling mad three smallest values.
