DEGRADATION OF MOUNTAIN ECOSYSTEM IN THE UPPER REACHES OF MINGJIANG RIVEKR AND COUTERMEAURES FOR THEIR REHABILITATION AND RECONSTRUCTION

Major features and degraded status of mountain ecosystem in the upper reaches of MingjiangRiver are analysed and expounded in this paper.Countermeasures to rehabitate and reconstrcut!thedegraded mountain ecosystem are proposed. They include the enhancement of the rational use andprotection of natural resources and environment, the promotion of people's environmentalconsciousness; habitation and construction with reference to different regions and sub-systems;and the adoption of different methodology for differnt degraded sub-systems severa;importantproblems in the process of habitation and reconstruction are also put forward and some thinkingand methodology for their solution are proposed in the paper.
